Our Biggest Loser!!! James ERIC Slamans!!

Congratulations, Eric!

The Before Photo is from last May at Cancun...if you'll notice the slight bulge around the top of the swim trunks and the lack of abdominal definition.  The after photo shows Eric's waist smaller and a seam beginning to form through the center of his chest and stomach separating the muscles.

Eric lost a total of 26.6 pounds giving him a point total of 63.6 points.  This percentage of weight loss total = 12.72%.  Results of the rest of the team is listed below with the percentage of weight loss included.


Special Recognition should be given to Papa Tom who reached his 3 month goal, as well as Eric!  Brad is only .8 away from his goal!!!
Just as on the Biggest Loser show, we will no longer have weekly weigh-ins.  The tough part is ahead.  Keep your goals in mind and we will meet in 3 months at Nathan's Graduation party for the 6 Month Finale!

All Starting Weights Are In! Plus Fitness Tips

I have received all of the 1st official weigh in amounts from everyone. Next Monday will be our next weigh in. Once I receive next Mondays weigh in amount I will put the amount you lost into a formula and you will be able to see how you compare % wise of weight lost or gained during the week against all the other contestants.

Have fun with this but also understand that for me changing my eating habbits during my 40 days was one of the hardest things that I have ever done in my life. It is funny how much your stomach rules your mind and soul. Try to make this a time where you depend more on Christ as well. When I would get cravings to eat junk food, I would stop and pray and look to Jesus for strength to resist the urge to eat food that was unhealthy.

Here are 6 tips to help you along your weight loss way
1. Chew sugar free gum during the times you struggle the most. ( it helps me resist food cravings.)
2. Stay away from sugars and breads. (bread and sugar are the enemy when it comes to weight loss or gain)
3. check food labels and stear clear of high fructose corn syrup or just corn syrup.
4. Do cardio everyday for at least 45 minutes and just stay in your fat burning zone. (nice brisk pace that gets your heart rate at 60% of your maxium heart rate. (This will shred more fat than going all out. When you raise your heart rate above 65% than your body begins to use other sources like muscle or anything else it can draw from to keep you going at the high pace you are running.)
5. The best way to shred fat is first thing in the morning before you eat anything. Your body will use your fat stores for energy.
6. Drink a gallon of water day

Happy New Year 2010 Weigh-In Instructions




Today is the 1st official day of the biggest loser weight loss contest. Please weigh in yourselves and please have your significant other weigh in as well. I will expect weigh ins from now on every Monday. If you can not weigh in for some reason on Monday than as soon as possible after Monday will work. Please watch your hubby's when they weigh in so you can verify what they weigh. This may sound funny but integrity will be tested if weighing in alone. When it comes to weight loss and gain it can be a tough thing to stay honest so having you watch will help with the accountability piece. I am going to talk like Bob and Jillian now "MAKE THE WEIGH INS HAPPEN AND SEND ME THE EXACT RESULTS EVERY WEEK. THIS CONTEST WILL NOT WORK UNLESS THEY HAVE WEEKLY REMINDERS OF THEIR WEIGHT LOSS OR WEIGHT GAIN.

To clarify what the cash prize is. As of right now Here are the contestants who have paid $50.00 a piece. Tom, Bruce, Susan, Eric,Tim, Carmyn. Brad may enter the contest. If Brad enters the contest the cash prize will be $350.00 If Brad does not enter then the prize will be $300.00.

Dee and I are continuing our fat loss journey and if I do not reduce my waist size to a real 33 and my fat % to at least 15% or less than I will add $50.00 to the pot. My contribution to your pursuit of a healthier life was the fat % scales I purchased for each of you which cost $35.00 a piece. Please use them and read up on how to reduce your total body fat %. This is really what matters most to get healthier.

Thursday April 1st will be the final weigh in for the first 3 months of the contest. We will be in Aurora for spring break and can verify everyones weight. The next official weigh in will be at Nathan's graduation toward the end of June. Remember if someone else has surpassed the original winner in total % loss of weight the original 3 month winner will have to give half of their winnings to the 6 month winner.

Dee is in the process of setting up a blog page that only family members will be able to log into. I will post the weekly weigh ins on the that page in a formula that you will not be able to tell what everyones starting weight was but you will be able to see how many pounds they have lost.
